A pilot lands a jet in the Hudson River, a firefighter pulls a child out of burning house, a lifeguard rescues someone as they are drowning. “Heroes” we call them. They say they did what anyone would have done in their situation. And we get it - they were just regular people responding to extraordinary circumstances. Throughout the Bible we read about heroes as well. But do we realize that they, too, were ordinary, flawed people who responded to extraordinary circumstances. Except they did it for God.

Over the next four weeks we’ll look at some of those all too human heroes who answered God’s call. And we’ll see that we, too, can be heroes for God.
